We have to say, this one was a hard pack to pull together. Mostly because we kept drinking all of the cellar reserve cabernets ourselves, or couldn’t keep them in stock long enough to bring a pack together.

Why do we love this case?
The point is mofo, we got there. We all know aged cabernet can be one of those unicorns, hard to find, but priceless when you do. Our producers have done the cellaring for you, so now all that’s left to do is crack these babies open (although we suggest giving them some airing time before diving in).
1x Devitt & Moore Captain D. Bruce Cabernet Sauvignon 2016
Red — Cabernet Sauvignon
Coonawarra — Australia
Rarely do you open wine when it’s in the perfect drinking window, but when you do, you really know about it. With almost a decade in the bottle, its tannins have softened to perfection. Robust and vibrant dark berries are still at the core, but the layers are opening up, offering roasted notes, cigar box, olive tapenade and mineral warmth. Cabernet sauvignon with perfectly aged, fine tannins is genuinely such a pleasure; it makes you wonder why we don’t always wait (nearly) ten years.

1x Dog Ridge Original Plantings Cabernet Sauvignon 2016
Red — Cabernet Sauvignon
McLaren Vale — Australia
Aged McLaren Vale cabernet from vines planted way back in the 1940s. This is truly one for those who love matured Aussie reds. Developed, soft, plush and utterly delicious.
McLaren Vale people take their old vines very seriously, and with good reason, the concentration and regionality of the fruit off of these vineyards goes virtually unrivalled in McV and, in short, allows the winemaker to create whatever style of wine they want. Turns out the winemaker in question here decided to make an absolute belter! Notes of leather, tobacco and spice are really starting to poke through a base of dense black fruit and cocoa notes. Fine, chalky tannins build on natural acid to create an extremely long finish and hold this bad boy in good stead for the future, if that's your thing.
You’d pay $85 full price.

1x Wild Game Cellar Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2015
Red — Cabernet Sauvignon
Coonawarra — Australia
We love to drag something out of the cellar, dust it off, and have it absolutely blow us away. There's no real mystery to it: great winemaking creates wines that last. This is opulent, luscious, deep, brooding, and still exuding freshness and lift. Its velvety on the palate with an intense dark fruit medley of plums, cherries, and blackberries. That fruit profile persists through a lingering finish, balanced by subtle oak and spritely acidity. Nearly ten years has done this wine wonders - mature and balanced but still packing a punch.

1x Reschke Bos Cabernet Sauvignon 2015
Red — Cabernet Sauvignon
Coonawarra — Australia
This is the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. The needle in the haystack. This is why we show up to work every day and search the globe for the best wines. This right here, is the epitome of aged Coonawarra cabernet. Reschke are Coonawarra legends, and they don't hold back on the time and care that goes into their wines. Halliday would certainly agree, awarding the 2015 'Bos' 95pts in a recent tasting. Vibrant blackcurrant and oak have come together, tannins mellowed and earthy, secondary elements emerged. Enjoy drinking from the top shelf, you deserve it.

1x Dowie Doole Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2015
Red — Cabernet Sauvignon
McLaren Vale — Australia
"The balance of the fruit, oak and tannin is perfect" - James Halliday. If the big guy is using the P word, you know you're on to something pretty special.
Winemakers love to tell you that McLaren Vale has more cabernet planted than shiraz. We're not here to debate the veracity of these claims but we will say this, if true, it's for a bloody good reason. This wine shows what you can do with some high quality fruit and more than a bit of local knowledge. A deep and dark wine with black fruits and cedary tobacco notes. There's a vibrancy to the fruit and acid that carry right through to the long, smooth finish. The tannins, although sturdy, are fine grained and will continue to soften over time or through the use of a decanter. If you're still reading by now we'll wrap it up for you neatly - get this wine, you won't regret it.
You’d pay $35 full price.

1x Evans & Tate Broadway Cabernet Sauvignon 2018
Red — Cabernet Sauvignon
Margaret River — Australia
Margies built its reputation on wines like this, deeply regional, complex, elegant cabernet sauvignon - without breaking the bank. A great find! Finally, We can open a Margs cab on a weeknight!
Just as you'd expect from Margaret River, a soft, smooth, medium-full bodied wine with super concentrated flavours of blackberry, currants and bay-leaf. There's a subtly dry tannin and some toasty influences from the oak that are all singing in perfect harmony after five or so years in bottle. It's all about balance and allowing the pristine fruit to express itself with help from the structure. This is a wine that should be drank now. It's done it's aging, everything is in its right place, there's no need to wait any longer whatsoever. Tuck in!
You’d pay $29 full price.
